Crowdfunding

In partnership with nonprofit crowdfunding platform ioby, we are focused on helping Main Street communities raise funds for placemaking projects and build local fundraising capacity

Block by Block

Drawing small donations for a cause or project from a wide variety of donors, crowdfunding fits well with the community-driven work exemplified by the Main Street America network. To provide more crowdfunding opportunities to our network, the National Main Street Center partnered with the national, nonprofit crowdfunding platform ioby on three sets of crowdfunding campaigns for NMSC members across the country.

Cultivating Place on Main Street

The Cultivating Place on Main: Crowdfunding Challenge consists of two rounds of crowdfunding campaigns with matching grants offered exclusively to the states selected for the Cultivating Place trainings.
  • Round 1, Spring 2016: Alabama, Connecticut, Missouri, Montana, and Oregon
  • Round 2, late 2017: Louisiana, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Wyoming

Edward Jones Placemaking on Main

The Edward Jones Placemaking on Main Crowdfunding Challenge connects 10 selected Main Street America programs with ioby to raise funds for placemaking projects downtown and build local fundraising capacity. Thanks to the generous support of Edward Jones, the National Main Street Center is pleased to apply a $2,500 matching grant towards each project. Participating communities will fundraise between June 22 – July 31 and the placemaking projects will be implemented during fall 2017. Learn more >
