As Development Assistant, Katharine Hannaford assists the President in fundraising efforts from individual, foundation and corporate supporters. She comes to the National Main Street Center from the American Bar Foundation (ABF), where for a decade she helped the organization secure grants to support its research agenda from both foundation and corporate donors. She also served as writer and editor of the ABF’s quarterly news magazine and its annual report. Prior to her time at the ABF she was a doctoral student at the University of Chicago in Historical and Cultural Geography, with an emphasis in the American urban built environment. A native of Chicago, she holds a B.A. in Art History from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT), an M.A. in Art History from Northwestern University, and an M.A. in Geography from the University of Chicago.
