Convenient, Accessible Learning

The Main Street America Institute provides participants with a unique, dynamic online environment to explore preservation-based revitalization issues and develop advanced leadership skills that are essential for today’s Main Street and commercial district management needs.

Our Community Transformation coursework focuses on the advanced principles of preservation-based community revitalization though the lens of the refreshed Main Street Approach. Our Leadership Development coursework provides skills and understanding on how to be an effective leader within both a commercial revitalization entity and the extended community.

Participant note: MSAI’s online coursework has been updated for 2018! Winter/Spring courses, formerly known as Advanced Fundamentals I, are now called Advanced Principles. In Summer/Fall 2018, a new set of coursework, with a topic-specific focus, will replace Advanced Fundamentals II courses.

Advanced Principles of Leadership Development

2. Best practices in planning and enhancing the look and feel of the district.
3. Assembling resources and innovative incentives to support your efforts.

Each week will feature 1.5-hour online course with pre-readings, assignments/quizzes, and interaction with your peers.

The Details

Format: Online courses consist of three live online sessions – one per week for three weeks – at one hour and thirty minutes each. For your convenience, each session is recorded so that registrants who are unable to attend will be able to view it on-demand starting 48 hours after the live event.

Eligibility: The Institute is flexible, allowing participants to begin the program requirements at any time. There are no prerequisites and the courses can be completed in any order!

Requirements: For those pursuing a certificate or receiving AICP certification maintenance credit, participants must complete an assignment or exam for each week of the course.
