UrbanMain is pleased to announce a new partnership with the City of Chicago in their INVEST South/West program, which aims to reactivate 12 neighborhood cores on the City's South and West sides.

“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Chicago and LISC Chicago to launch a new citywide Main Street program targeting Invest South/West communities,” said the National Main Street Center’s Director of Urban Programs Dionne Baux. “I look forward to working with community partners to reactivate commercial districts that have historically served as focal points for pedestrian activity, shopping, services, transportation, public spaces, and quality-of-life amenities for local residents."

UrbanMain will provide training, coaching, and consulting to community organizations, with priority given to INVEST South/West community-based organizations, as well as City of Chicago staff. UrbanMain will also develop local workshops strategically designed to provide stakeholder convening opportunities to learn about the Main Street Approach to commercial corridor revitalization methods and practices.

The primary goal of INVEST South/West is to marshal the resources of multiple City departments, community-based organizations, and corporate partners toward neighborhoods on the City’s South and West sides. This program is designed to be a collaborative effort among government, businesses, philanthropies, and community leaders to maximize pubic investments in order to attract private capital, respond to changing commercial trends, and enrich local culture.
