In Main Street America Institute’s May course, join the National Main Street Center’s Lindsey Wallace for an investigation into the role of design in shaping our downtown districts, from streetscapes to parking. Advanced Principles of Quality Design for a deep-dive into the physical characteristics of Main Streets, underscoring the need for people-centered design processes.
Using the newly released Main Street Approach Design Guide as a basis for exploration and expansion, Advanced Principles of Quality Design will enhance your engagement through lecture, discussion and assignments. In this course, you will learn:
- The role and value of design and historic preservation in commercial district revitalization.
- Best practices in planning and enhancing the look and feel of the district.
- Assembling resources and innovative incentives to support your efforts.
