2014 GAMSA Application
The online submission portal for the 2014 Great American Main Street Awards is now open! We hope you’ll be pleased to find that this year’s application process has been streamlined and there are much fewer image and supporting document requirements.
You’ll notice one big change in the GAMSA process this year: rather than focusing on how communities are adhering to and implementing the Four-Point Approach, we’re asking communities to focus on the results of the Four-Point Approach in their community. In particular, we’re eager to see how Main Streets have demonstrated success in creating places where people want to visit, work, live, and play. Main Streets should highlight how the Four-Point Approach has helped their community achieve positive outcomes.
America’s successful Main Streets thrive because people find them compelling places for vacations and leisure experiences making them want to come back again and again; because there are opportunities to create businesses and find meaningful work in historic spaces that nourish the soul; because the residential spaces and lifestyle amenities make people want to live there; and because it is a place to have fun and make personal connections that last a lifetime. The recipients of the Great American Main Street Award are national models that set high standards for other communities across the country and are recognized each year at the National Main Streets Conference.
The deadline for submitting an application is midnight (CST) on February 5, 2014. If you have any questions or concerns, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Steve Amraen, the Associate Manager of Network Services at 312-939-5547 ext. 37233.
